Fortunately for me, Norton seems to have put on the brakes before it
actually opened the post. I can't be sure of the timing, but the
warning screen appeared at once, not the message in it. I think it
screens for bugs first, then opens. Or so I hope anyway...

Yes, and one I've never seen before. It tries to run an "Active X"
application through the web browser. I had set up IE 5.5 to warn me
of
such requests and when it asked me about it I did not let it
execute.
Others may not have been so lucky!

I don't think I have ever heard of a virus that can be executed by
opening an e-mail message without opening any attachments! Is this
new?
