In an effort to illuminate the background of Paul's use of his "dying
formula" (X died/gave himself for Y) I am trying to gather together as
many instances as possible up to the 2nd cent CE of the use of the theme
"dying for (one's) country". To do this, I have been exploring the TLG
D, using hUPER PATRID or PATRID hUPER as my search terms. I'd be
grateful to know if there are any other Greek search terms I should be
using to uncover instances of this theme.
I'd also be extremely grateful if those with access to Latin databases
and/or with knowledge of where the theme appears in Latin literature
(especially of 1BCE-2CE) would forward to me these references.
Thanks in advance.
