This is not really the List for this question:
How do people understand apocalypse/apocalyptic literature? The common
Collins line which sees it basically in terms of literary genre seems
inadequate because nobody seems to be able to agree as to which writings
fit that genre and which don't. Howabout talking about it as 'a religious
discourse inspired [?] by communication with a heavenly being'?
If this is not the appropriate forum, can someone suggest another? Or, if
you have a comment anyway, maybe you could reply off-list. I guess I could
ask: Was Paul an apocalypticist?
