I am very sympathetic to this request since promotion of exchanges between
Pauline scholars is one of the List's functions. But since an open publication
of the names of all subscribers could lead to unwanted spamming, I fear that
revealing who is who could lead to unwanted consequences. (Moreover, at
present,
the software running the List has been set up is set up so that the names and
e-mail addresses off List Members remain private and *cannot* be accessed) On
the whole, then, I do not think that it is not a good idea to "have the List
in
detail".
But what of those who wish to conduct exchanges privately? Two solutions
suggest
themselves. The first is that those posting to the list indicate what their
area(s) of interest/specialization is(are) in their signature. The second is
that I play "matchmaker". List members could send me off list a description of
their current work and interests. And then, with permission, I would forward
this to others whose interests co-incide or overlap.
Which, if any of these options, sounds best?
Yours,
Jeffrey Gibson
