We use
a filter of the type used with a water softening system. Its good, as I remember
for several million gallons. I think we spent $250-300USD. It has removed ALL
chlorine from the water. An inexpensive pool test module for pool/spas is a good
way to monitor.
"Chloramine, like chlorine, is
effective in controlling biofilm, which is a slime coating in the pipe caused by
bacteria. Controlling biofilms also tends to reduce coliform concentrations and
biofilm-induced corrosion of pipes."
Sounds
ike it will definitly affect our grews if not removed....
At a two-day symposium led by Elaine, I asked her about the effect of chloramine on the organisms in tea, this because chloramine doesn't off-gas as does chlorine. The response was less than helpful, to the effect that why would anyone use that in water. The fact is that many municipalities do use chloramine. So, we need an answer.
