Hi Daniel -

Horizon Ag has a good definition of humic acids on their website
- www.horizonag.com

Humic acids are a kind of organic matter that has been processed
by microbes into structurally complex, condensed material. They
are generally high in molecular weight, a very branched, and have
a very complex tertiary structure. They are rich, deep chocolate
brown in color. I like to think of dark chocolate as a human
form of humic acid. Dark chocolate is food for beneficial
humans, the same way as humic acids is food for beneficial fungi.

OK, I'm being a little silly, but I think you probably get the
point. Humic acids feed the good guys, because the bad guys
don't have the enzymes to allow they to digest humic acids.

Hope this helps!

Elaine
