Hopefully Lessig and other fighters for free culture will realize
eventually that culture as much is about forms of expression as it is
about ideas. That is, no freedom is possible while forms are locked up by
publishing monopolies (copyrights).

Normal understanding of normal things would happen much earlier if said
fighters asked themselves once: what is the nature of things (works of
art) they discuss, fight for, think of, et cetera.

This understanding is growing very gradually in some "work around" form
through free and open source software case, freedom of communication over
internet case, free press case, needs of developing countries case,
probably other cases. Still these are specific subjects and are work
around in respect of culture as such.
