Canada confirms new case of mad cow in Alberta
COLIN McCLELLAND, Associated Press Writer
Tuesday, January 11, 2005
"The latest sick cow was born after 1997, when Canada banned the use of
animal remains in feed, commonly believed to be the cause of the
disease. This makes this third Canadian cow with BSE more serious than
the others because the cause could be much more difficult to trace."

"Dr. Brian Evans of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said the cow was
most likely exposed to feed before the ban came into effect in the fall
of 1997 and that his agency was investigating."

"Mitchell [Canadian Agriculture Minister - ED.]stressed the new case was
not a cause for alarm."

So, we read a little between the lines. The cow eats contaminated
animal remains contained in the feed, shortly after it was born, then
the ban comes into effect, then, at the young age of 7, it "contracts
BSE". So, not a cause for alarm.

At some point, these folks have to give up with the "contracts BSE" at
old age crap, and tell the truth, that this thing called BSE occurs when
the cows are exposed, incubates for months or years (cow time), and then
at the late stages, shows the signs of damage done over the years.
We'll bail out entire industries in the financial sector, and airline
industry, but with cattle, we just accept that entire generations will
have to suffer horrible deaths, just as the roughly 180,000 British
victims that have died since 1987 from this disease, for the sake of
avoiding a multi-billion dollar short-term bailout.

These folks in Washington need a sign for their forehead, "STUPID".
Just a thought, Tom
