Hi, De Bug: That's an interesting question. The animated logo file may be Open Sourced? If so, then expanding that into a movie, probably can be handled under Open Source? Since we're in the Digital Age where movies will be capable of being contained within digital files, maybe we need to start thinking about film producers as creating digital files that can be treated a lot like Open Source code?

A lot of questions. The Creative Commons folks would be able to help clear up the questions, or possibly raise some more. When imp.org wants to register the work, or part of the work, they can add whatever restrictions to their public domain work they want, so, in that sense the registration will drive what people perceive as being more public domain than copyright, or there may be so many restrictions that the registration looks more like copyright than public domain. Either way, the key will be the "tag" that identifies the registration, and that is a good thing.

Kevin has a nifty way to handle the registration for payment of "royalties", if that's too loose a term. Bottom line, though, is that there are options for the Digital Age that makes life bearable without subjecting us all to the pigopolists' control.
thanks,

I recall there was a (rithorical perhaps) question about "Why programers have open

Please take a look at http://tuxedo.org/~esr/writings/cathedral-bazaar/
Does anything similar exists for film-producers ? Something like Internet
Movie project at www.imp.org
