The following information is provided for the Commission to consider sponsorship of Public Art 360.

As shown on the Public Art 360 website and printed information the Symposium has a steering committee and primary support from the following organizers:

North Carolina Arts Council

South Carolina Arts Council

Orange County Arts Commission

Percent for Art Collaborative

In addition to monetary and time commitments from the Steering Committee parties, additional monetary sponsorship is so far provided by:

Southern Arts Federation

Forecast Public Artworks

UNC-Chapel Hill

Americans for the Arts Public Art Network

According to Martha Shannon of the Orange County Arts Commission, $2,500 is the minimum amount of sponsorship received from organizations to date, with some providing more according to previous pledges and money received to date.

Other organizations than those listed above have expressed a desire to be sponsors and apparently are in the process of having organization boards or directors authorizing funds for sponsorship.

Sponsorship establishes that the sponsoring organization has website links and other information distribution opportunities.

No registration benefits are being provided to sponsors to date and according to Ms. Shannon, no one had asked.

At the Council meeting on Monday night, the Council approved $2,500 for their (Town of Chapel Hill) sponsorship of Public Art 360.  The motion by Council Member Strom was approved unanimously by the Council.

Given the discussion we had about the importance of having the CHPAC be a sponsor - and taking a clue from the Council Action and the minimum level of sponsorship at $2,500 - I, as a sub-committee of 1 - suggest that we match the Council sponsorship for $2,500.  This would allow both the Town and CHPAC to have visibility in the printed and on-line materials.

Therefore, in keeping with the Commission action to allow an electronic vote, please reply to Steve Wright with one of the following 2 choices.

I vote in favor of a $2,500 sponsorship contribution to Public Art 360

or

I DO NOT vote in favor of a $2,500 sponsorship contribution to Public Art 360.

Thank you for acting promptly so that we may proceed to implement the contribution if the vote in favor is the choice of the Commission.

Sincerely,
