DREAM!

The Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission’s Dream Exhibition kicks off with an opening reception this Thursday, April 7, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Museum, 523 East Franklin Street. This reception, with live music by Tim Smith and refreshments, is free and open to everyone.  Please invite your family and friends!  You may park at the Chapel Hill Museum - other parking options include the Horace Williams House (parking is accessible from Rosemary Street, East of the Chapel Hill Museum), or at Park Place (a University owned parking lot directly across from the University Press building, between the Chapel Hill Museum and the Forest Theater on Boundary Street.)

This community-wide exhibition featuring over 300 artworks created by members of our community (ranging in age from 1½ to 98!) will be on view from April 7 through May 27, 2005 in eight locations throughout Chapel Hill and Carrboro.  The exhibition venues include, Chapel Hill Town Hall, Carrboro Town Hall, Chapel Hill Museum, Chapel Hill Public Library, PTA Thrift Shop, Senior Center, East End Gallery at the ArtsCenter, and Jack Sprat Café.  To find out where each artwork is hanging, visit our website at www.communityartproject.org and click on “Where’s Your Art.”

Also please mark your calendar and plan to join us on Tuesday, April 19 from 7-9 p.m. at the Senior Center, 400 South Elliott Road, for a Community Discussion in conjunction with this project.  Our guest speakers will talk about the project and welcome your questions. The panel of speakers includes Valerie Yow, historian, psychologist & writer with a particular interest in Carl Jung; Aaron Nelson, Executive Director, Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce; Kenneth Jjombwe, student, Chapel Hill-Carrboro School system; Oscar Barbarin, Professor, UNC School of Social Work; Emily Mills, textile artist in Chapel Hill.

Visit www.communityartproject.org for additional information about the exhibition and special events.
