SELF PORTRAIT PROJECT 2004

CALL FOR ENTRIES

The Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission is organizing an exhibition of Self Portraits to celebrate the identity, individuality and diversity of our community. Create a self portrait to express your feelings, your personality, hopes, dreams and fears. Be imaginative!

Submit your self portrait for an exhibition that will be on view from March 31 through May 21, 2004. These portraits will be displayed in public spaces throughout Chapel Hill and Carrboro, including:

Town Halls, Public Libraries, Hargraves Center, Chapel Hill Museum, Community Centers

HOW TO ENTER

To be a part of this exhibition, make a self portrait which you feel reveals your true personality, identity and individuality. Remember, your self portrait does not have to be an exact likeness of you. You can use all sorts of ways to make a statement about who you are. Think about what you want to convey and how you would like to be portrayed.

Anyone can participate! Here are some artistic ideas for making your self portrait:

Drawing Painting Photograph Fabric Digital Image Collage or constructed image Ceramic Written text or poem

All submissions must be two dimensional and no larger than 24x36 inches. Your portrait must be framed and/or ready to hang. (Please call the CHPAC if you need assistance or further information)

Entry forms are available at various sites around town, or can be downloaded in PDF form from our web site:

www.chapelhillarts.org/programs/selfportrait.htm

Deliver your work along with a completed entry form, which requires an accompanying paragraph that will be displayed with your artwork, to the following address (you can submit your work anonymously, however, the Commission still requests that you submit an anonymous statement about your piece):

Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission

306 North Columbia Street

Chapel Hill, NC 27516
