Few things...
  • The Austerity Program's Bible Songs 2 came out yesterday, complete with a Bandcamp listening party last night, a thing I did not know existed, but which was fun, because these two gentlemen are funny and smart (and full disclosure friends of mine) and pointed out some bits about the recording and I'm a nerd for that stuff. If you're looking to have your mellow harshed (and I mean who isn't?) or for music to match your mood when you read about the cancellation of $1B in grants for children's mental health, this punishing, precise, enormous-sounding record should fit the bill.  https://austerityprogram.bandcamp.com/album/bible-songs-2
  • Speaking of distant friends, once all hope has been wrung from you by the above-mentioned duo from Astoria, Future Living's Get Vasectomy, out earlier this year, will offer its hand to help you back up. Towering gorgeous vocals, intertwining guitars, and fantastic, creative drumming from Kalamazoo and Chicago.  https://futurelivingkzoo.bandcamp.com/album/get-vasectomy
  • Speaking of gorgeous voices, this came out more than two years ago, but I still listen to it constantly, and I don't know if everyone on earth knows about Nina Nastasia yet. So if not the very difficult and stunningly beautiful Riderless Horse is her most recent and first solo record, without a supporting cast of strings, horns, percussion, piano. Just her voice and guitar. It's an arresting and sometimes very hard record about a journey to hope and healing, the only way out having been through. Should you wish to start somewhere less raw, On Leaving includes perhaps my favorite song I've ever heard and I will never hear that record enough times. She has five others and they're all wonderful too.
Also, I'm glad to see emails from ibiblio.org again.

Remember, on Bandcamp Friday (which is *not* every Friday — it’s like once a quarter nowadays), Bandcamp waives its cut, so artists/labels get 100% of what you pay.

A few recommendations:

The new Eli Winter is out today, and it cooks: https://eliwinter.bandcamp.com/album/a-trick-of-the-light

Closer to home, last year’s Old Ceremony album is well worth your time: https://theoldceremony.bandcamp.com/album/earthbound

Django is one of those ppl who works at such a consistently high level that it can start to get overlooked — what, another great Old Ceremony album?

Been listening a lot to the debut full-length from Durham’s Trash Signal, which is snotty & punky w/synth lines threaded through it. Drummer Dave Yarwood has played in a bunch of other locals, including No Love, so this tracks. https://trashsignal.bandcamp.com/album/trash-signal

My other heavy rotation album this spring has been The Way Out of Easy, by the Jeff Parker ETA IVtet, who had a long-running Monday residency at a venue in LA called ETA. https://intlanthem.bandcamp.com/album/the-way-out-of-easy

You rockers on this list might recognize Jeff’s name from his other band, Tortoise.
