Welp, today I learned that newsguy.com still exists and is still maintaining
its listserv <-> usenet gateway. I configured that, what, 20 years ago?

What Matt (and I) is/are referring to is the fact that since ~1994 ch-scene
has been mirrored, badly, to alt.music.chapel-hill, which is a thing called a
Usenet group. You can go read the wikipedia article about that if you want to.

For a while after The Web became a thing, there was this company called
Dejanews that provided access to Usenet groups on the web, and had a pretty
comprehensive archive. At some point Google bought them and folded them into
Google Groups, which is why this page exists:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/alt.music.chapel-hill

It is absolutely fitting that some posts from this mailing list don't seem to
transit over to the newsgroup because IT WAS ALWAYS THUS even though there
was never any good reason for it.
