1) Saturday, February 2nd @ 2pm: The Really Really Free Market @ Carrboro
Town Commons

Bring something to share--take something you need!

Everyone is welcome at this monthly event at which people share goods,
services, skills, performances, stories, crafts, food, games, music,
clothing, furniture, plants, and other resources.

Better than a yard sale, the Really Really Free Market has no price
tags: there is no buying, selling, or exchanging involved. At this
market, everything is strictly free. This event is a celebration of
the cooperation and gift-giving that make life possible beyond the
constraints of market capitalism: it is an afternoon when social
status has nothing to do with what you own, and when giving and
receiving happen directly rather than being administered through an
institution or organization. As at other Really Really Free Markets
across the U.S. and around the world, we aim to create and participate
in a world in which resources are held in common, the community meets
the needs of the community, and "free" means just that: really, really
free.

2)Saturday, February 2nd @ 7pm @ Internationalist Books
“American Radical: The Trials of Norman Finkelstein” Film Screening and
Discussion

About the film:
“A devoted son of Holocaust survivors and ardent critic of Israeli foreign
policy, the polarizing American political scientist and author Norman
Finkelstein has been called a lunatic and self-hating Jew by some, and an
inspirational revolutionary by others. Exploring the deeply complex issues
at the heart of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, American Radical is the
insightful and enraging documentary that follows Finkelstein around the
world as he attempts to negotiate a voice among impassioned critics and
supporters. “

3)Tuesday, February 5th @ 7pm @ Internationalist Books
National touring poet Lauren Zuniga w/ Elayna Madden!
It's free but there will be a suggested donation of $5-$10 collected to
pay artists!

Lauren Zuniga is an internationally touring poet and teaching artist. A
three time national slam finalist and passionate activist, MoveOn. Org
called her work, “the most riveting message.” Daily Kos called her “a
voice that can change the game.” Born and raised in Oklahoma, she is
the voice of Oklahoma City Community College's Now is Power campaign
featured on television and radio. In 2012, she served as the
Activist-In-Residence for the University of Oklahoma and was voted Best
Local Author by the Oklahoma Gazette. She is the author of two poetry
collections, The Nickel Tour (Penmanship Books, 2009) and The Smell of
Good Mud (Write Bloody Publishing, 2012). Pank Magazine said, “If
imagery and language are the sea on which Zuniga’s poems sail, then her
ability to reach the shared human experience is the boat in which she
rides.” She lives with her two kids in an artist collective named
Clementine where they experiment with weird things like kombucha and
cooperation.

Elayna Madden is a young singer songwriter from Chapel Hill!

7) A MUST READ ARTICLE! Eric Ginsberg just released an article on Police
Surveillance of activist communities in North Carolina. The article
focuses on Greensboro, but covers all over. It includes a creepy bit about
Chapel Hill. We think it is important to be aware of these police tactics,
but let's not be scared, let's not back down. They do all of this to try
to keep us from fighting for a better world. They do it to try to keep us
from fighting oppression.

You can find the article here:
