Wednesday, August 3
The Bamfs (http://www.facebook.com/thebamfs)
We Still Dream (http://www.myspace.com/westilldream)
The Cave, Chapel Hill

Wednesday, August 3
Cheezface
Treeclimbr
Dugout Canoe
MMCIII
Nightlight, Chapel Hill

Wednesday, August 3
Corvette Summer
Slim's, Raleigh

Thursday, August 4
Kid Future (http://kidfuture.bandcamp.com/)
The Big Picture (http://www.facebook.com/pa
ges/The-Big-Picture/369620314091)
Tir Na Nog, Raleigh

Thursday, August 4
Thee Dirtybeats (http://www.reverbnation.com/theedirtybeats)
P-90s
The Pinhook, Durham

Garage-rock from folks who've been studying it for a generation or two.

Thursday, August 4
Inspector 22
Birds & Arrows (http://www.myspace.com/birdsandarrows)
All Day Records, Carrboro

I once saw Inspector 22 play a show that involved taking a nap on a
cot at Schoolkids Records.

Thursday, August 4
Make (http://www.myspace.com/thebandmake)
Enoch (http://www.myspace.com/enochnc)
The Casbah, Durham

Casbah continues to distinguish itself as the place for heavy shows in
Durham (while simultaneously still booking a lot of sit-down Americana
type shows on other nights). Make are another really interesting local
metal band who, like Tooth before them, don't seem to be too into the
sharp genre lines that usually separate the Metal Nation into dozens
of warring factions.

Thursday, August 4
Stratocruiser (http://www.stratocruisermusic.com/)
Multiples
The Cave, Chapel Hill

Thursday, August 4
Ojos Rojos
Flying Snakes
Nightlight, Chapel Hill

According to Nightlight, Ojos Rojos = "members of Shit Horse +
Americans in France + Gross Ghost"

Thursday, August 4
Motorbilly (http://www.myspace.com/motorbilly)
Flat Tires
Junkrod Joe
Slim's, Raleigh

Friday, August 5
Wigg Report (http://www.reverbnation.com/thewiggreport)
Joy in Red (http://www.facebook.com/joyinred)
The Cave, Chapel Hill

Two of the most Durham of Durham bands, venturing far away from home
into the strange world of Orange County. I hope the Joy in Red guys
are giving the Wiggs a ride to the gig, because I can't imagine trying
to navigate 15-501 on bikes pulling trailers full of gear. Be safe,
Wiggs!

Friday, August 5
Lizzy Ross (http://www.reverbnation.com/lizzyross)
Troubel (http://troubel.bandcamp.com/)
Songs of Water (http://www.songsofwater.com/)
Local 506, Chapel Hill

I caught half of one song by Lizzy Ross & her band on WUNC the other
day, and I thought it was pretty good -- I'm usually just irritated
when singers go for "soulful" because it so frequently just comes
across as simple people trying too hard, but she was able to push her
voice just enough to get some grit into it, without crossing over into
histrionics.

But that was just half of one song. Don't blame me if the rest doesn't
match that description.

Friday, August 5
Goner (http://www.gonertheband.com/)
The Bleeding Hearts
Syrup (http://www.reverbnation.com/syrupnc)
Pour House, Raleigh

I know the mid-90s were a long time ago, but I only vaguely remember
Syrup as that band that the dude from Slurpeeee! was in. It was a
power trio kind of time so they did a power trio kind of thing. The
Pour House schedule says this is their first show in 15 years. Welcome
back?

Friday, August 5
Clang Quartet (http://www.myspace.com/clangquartet)
Mecanikill
Orgavin (http://www.myspace.com/orgavin7)
Baptizer (http://www.myspace.com/thebaptizer/music)
Nightlight, Chapel Hill

This is being billed as "Heaven Vs. Hell Noise Night."

Friday, August 5
The Bronzed Chorus (http://www.myspace.com/thebronzedchorus)
This Piano Plays Itself (http://www.myspace.com/thispianoplaysitself)
The Pinhook, Durham

Friday, August 5
Stella Lively
Maldora
Slim's, Raleigh

Saturday, August 6
Future Kings of Nowhere (http://www.thefuturekings.net/)
The Magnolia Collective
Motorco Music Hall, Durham

This is actually sort of the after-party/rockshow portion of the
wedding reception of Red Collar guitarist Mike Jackson, but it's
definitely open to the public as well, because this is Durham.

Saturday, August 6
Chatham County Line (http://www.chathamcountyline.com/)
Justin Robinson & the Mary Annettes
Cat's Cradle, Carrboro

Saturday, August 6
Gray Young (http://www.myspace.com/grayyoung)
Knives and Daggers (http://www.myspace.com/knivesanddaggersmusic)
Unholy Tongues (http://www.myspace.com/unholytongues)
The Pinhook, Durham

Saturday, August 6
Pink Flag (http://www.myspace.com/pinkflagnc)
Lurch (http://www.reverbnation.com/lurchdurham)
The Church of Zann
The Casbah, Durham

METAL. Plus the non-metallic but still quite rad ladies of Pink Flag.

Saturday, August 6
Dan Melchior und das Menace (http://www.myspace.com/dasmenace)
Wild Wild Geese (http://www.myspace.com/wildwildgeesemusic)
Last Year's Men (http://www.myspace.com/lastyearsmenband)
Nightlight, Chapel Hill

Overflowing garage-rock bounty. You not only get the contrarian
blues-rant of Dan Melchior, but (assuming they can stay out of jail)
you also get the fresh-off-tour Last Year's Men.

Saturday, August 6
Bronze Radio Return (http://www.bronzeradioreturn.com/)
Tim Brantley (http://www.myspace.com/timbrantley)
Chuck Cannon (http://chuckcannon.com/)
Local 506, Chapel Hill

Saturday, August 6
Thee Dirtybeats (http://www.reverbnation.com/theedirtybeats)
Slawterhaus 5
Slim's, Raleigh

I'm assuming Slawterhaus 5 is Mike Slawter's current band -- he's the
one who did us all the great service of maintaining ncmusichistory.com
for so long. He also seems to buy a new weird vintage guitar nearly
every week, judging from Facebook.

Sunday, August 7
Christy Smith (http://www.myspace.com/thetenderfruit)
Daniel Michalak
Motorco Music Hall, Durham

This is part of MotorCo's weekly Bloody Brunch series, meaning it
starts a little after lunch.

Sunday, August 7
El Ten Eleven (http://www.myspace.com/elteneleven)
The Globes (http://www.myspace.com/globesmusic)
Prussia (http://www.prussiadetroit.com/)
Kings, Raleigh

Sunday, August 7
Soundsystem 13
Slim's, Raleigh

Monday, August 8
Almost People (http://www.facebook.com/almostpeople?sk=info)
Dead To Me (http://www.fatwreck.com/band/index/83)

Motorco Music Hall, Durham

Monday, August 8

Adam Faucett (http://www.adamfaucett.com/)
Local 506, Chapel Hill

Monday, August 8
Balkans (http://www.balkansbalkans.com/)
The Pinhook, Durham

Monday, August 8
Ryley Walker & Daniel Bachman (http://www.myspace.com/rwalkerwalker)
Mike Collins
Veedon Fleece
Nightlight, Chapel Hill

Monday, August 8
It's Just Vanity (http://www.myspace.com/itsjustvanitync)
Monoslang
Slim's, Raleigh

Tuesday, August 9
Old Bricks
Kurt Vile and the Violators (http://www.myspace.com/kurtvileofphilly)
True Widow (http://www.myspace.com/truewidow)
Cat's Cradle, Carrboro

Tuesday, August 9
The Fooligans (http://www.myspace.com/thetruefooligans)
Getting Up
Putting Out
Nightlight, Chapel Hill

Wednesday, August 10
Simple (http://www.myspace.com/httpwwwmyspacecomsimple)
JPhono1 (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jphono1/145575478840041)
Analogue Transit (http://www.analoguetransit.com/)
The Prescription
(https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Prescription/117391988317685)
The Cave, Chapel Hill

Wednesday, August 10
KinGator
World Wide Zoo (http://www.worldwidezoo.net/)
Nightlight, Chapel Hill

Wednesday, August 10

Slim's, Raleigh

Thursday, August 11

Jeff Crawford
Daniel Wallace

member of the Drughorse collective. Daniel Wallace wrote a book called
Big Fish & Tim Burton made a movie out of it.
