I wanted to let you know about HearNC, a new arts organization whose
mission is to encourage and motivate North Carolinians of all ages and
backgrounds to create their own art and show it to the world through
live events around the state and on www.HearNC.com. The goal is to
inspire and connect filmmakers, musicians, dancers, sculptors and visual
artists in all mediums. This year the focus of the live event will be
the music video as a collaborative art form between musicians and
filmmakers.
The HearNC 2010 Music Video Festival and Awards Ceremony will take place
on December 2 at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro. Doors will open at 7 pm
and the awards ceremony starts at 8 pm. This event is a multimedia
affair complete with film, music, awards, dancing, live performances and
a reenactment of the Boggles: Video Killed the Radio Star.
Submissions for the festival are currently being accepted for free until
November 1st. We would love for you to include info about the call for
submissions. All videos must be under seven minutes and submitted on
DVD. Seasoned and aspiring filmmakers as well as musicians in any genre
of music are encouraged to send in a submission. Applications are
available on the website (www.HearNC.com). Awards will be given to
superlative artists, whose videos excel in a variety of categories. All
submissions will be judged by a diverse panel of North Carolinians with
educational backgrounds and life experiences involved in the arts. A
portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to NC music, film
and arts organizations.
This is the inaugural event and we are looking to build a strong
foundation for future events. HearNC will always be in North Carolina,
working with North Carolina artists to promote awareness and
opportunities to show their work to the world on HearNC’s website and on
a North Carolina stage each year.
HearNC was created by Richard Jaimeyfield who is the founder/owner of
Dogwood Productions. Richard directed his first music video in 1994 for
The Archers of Loaf for their song, “Web in Front”. He has gone on to
produce videos for North Carolina bands that have played on MTV, VH1 and
Nick at Nite. In addition to music videos, Richard has worked with many
talented filmmakers, photographers, and producers making short films and
documentaries for various production companies including National
Geographic and The History Channel.
As mentioned above, we could use your help in getting the word out about
submissions and we would love for you to do an interview closer to the
event. Richard is available for interviews and has some great stories to
tell. Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional info.
Thanks,
Amy
