Kings blows any remaining dust out of the PA in preparation for this week's Hopscotch Festival with this night of noise, featuring Greensboro's own Clang Quartet, as well as broken-glass artist Justice Yeldham, about whom the Independent ran a whole article a few years ago.

Hopscotch Music Festival (http://hopscotchmusicfest.com/)
Multiple Venues, Raleigh
So this is it, the debut of the largest music festival ever to grace our fair Triangle. Or anyway, probably the largest. Certainly the most elaborate, ambitious and expensive. You've probably read a lot about it by now, and/or you decided you couldn't handle a three-day pass.
If for some reason you're still on the fence, and/or you're trying to plot your trajectory, a whole bunch of folks (including meself) wrote about some of our fave performers over at New Raleigh: http://www.newraleigh.com/articles/archive/qa-which-bands-are-you-most-excited-about-for-hopscotch/
IMPORTANT INFO, even if you're NOT paying to attend: there are a shitload of dayparties, all of which are FREE (setting aside, I suppose, any wages lost from playing hooky from work on Friday). Once again, it's New Raleigh to the rescue with a complete listing.

Do NOT miss the new rock-trio flavor of des_ark outside for free on Saturday. Jeebus.
Thursday, September 9
The Breaks (http://www.reverbnation.com/thebreaksofpittsboro)
Decoration Ghost
The Bastages (http://www.reverbnation.com/thebastages)
The Pinhook, Durham
More rock from dudes who shouldn't rock so hard, given their extremely advanced ages, yet they persist. The Breaks make glammy new-wave; their frontman is ex-What Peggy Wants singer John Ensslin, and their guitarist is Pittsboro amplifier genius Steve Carr.
The Bastages are a new Durham punkrock group started by one Mr. Danny Hooley, aka Danny Hooligan of 80s Durham hardcore band the Ugly Americans.
Decoration Ghost are the younguns on the bill, inasmuch as most of them are on the south side of 40. They're a Greensboro supergroup featuring ex-members of Manamid, Kudzu Wish & others.
Thursday, September 9
Dark Water Rising (http://www.reverbnation.com/darkwaterrising)
Lizzy Ross (http://www.reverbnation.com/lizzyross)
Aden Darity
Nightlight, Chapel Hill
Friday, September 10
Boat Burning (http://www.myspace.com/boatburning)
Goodbye, Titan (http://www.myspace.com/loudestsilenceever)
Sadlack's Heroes, Raleigh
This is an evening (7-9pm) show so that folks can swing by & stretch their brains a bit before heading out to a night of Hopscotch.
Friday, September 10
The Hem of His Garment (http://www.myspace.com/thehemofhisgarment)
D-Town Brass
JazzHandzz (http://www.myspace.com/jazzhandzz)
Nightlight, Chapel Hill
Kinda woulda thought too many members of The Hem of His Garment would be over in Raleigh for Hopscotch, but then the beauty of this band is that membership is a fairly loose concept.
It's a bit more rigorous for D-Town Brass, whose tight/loose horn-fueled funk and soul require a fair amount of rehearsal to sound so chaotically right.
Sunday, September 12
Andre Williams (http://www.myspace.com/68691228)
The Goldstars (http://www.myspace.com/thegoldstars)
Local 506, Chapel Hill
The brash & flashy-dressing R&B artist Andre Williams has been in the Music Business for over 50 years - he recorded his biggest hit, "Bacon Fat," in 1956. Currently he's recording for Bloodshot with the help of fellow Detroit luminaries the Dirtbombs & others.
Monday, September 13
Surfer Blood (http://www.myspace.com/surferblood)
The Drums (http://thedrums.com/)
The Young Friends (http://www.myspace.com/theyoungfriends)
Local 506, Chapel Hill
