Filthybird used to be from Greensboro, but now they call the wilds of
Alamance home (guitarist Brian Haran & singer Renee Mendoza own a guitar
shop in downtown Graham). Their second full-length, Songs for Other

Tickets for this show are available via eTix. Longtime local soundman
John Koelle has been talking about booking shows into Golden Belt for a
long time now, but as far as I know this is his first major attempt in
that direction.
https://www.etix.com/ticket/online/venueSearch.jsp?venue_id=7106&h=eb016
Mono are epic instrumentalists from Japan; The Twilight Sad are from
Scotland and are at the noisy end of the shoegaze spectrum, I guess.

sense.
Sunday, June 6
Anal Cunt (http://www.myspace.com/analcuntband)
Wretched (http://www.myspace.com/wretchednc)
Slaves to Addiction (http://www.myspace.com/slavestoaddiction)
Squall (http://www.myspace.com/squallband666)
Good Guy Dolls
Volume 11 Tavern, Raleigh
I'm kind of amazed to see Anal Cunt on the bill, given that frontman
Seth Putnam spent a big chunk of 2004-05 in a drug-induced coma (and/or
paralyzed in his bed after waking up). But then they've never been the
types to go down easy.
One of my favorite Chapel Hill moments of all time happened at an Anal
Cunt show, at the Lizard and Snake. At that time, the L&S had a partial
wall dividing the space down the middle, and near the front door there
was a sort of window/counter thing with a couple of barstools (it was a
small space, so Andy stuck seating anywhere he could).
Anal Cunt were onstage, doing their thing (30-second blast-bursts of
drums-and-guitar, with Seth jabbering nonsense into the mic), and a
fairly nicely-dressed couple came in & sat down at the stools there at
the little window/counter, directly facing the stage.
Before anyone knew exactly what was happening, Seth launched himself
from his perpetual onstage crouch, somehow managed to flip himself over
in midair, and landed on his back right in the middle of that
window/counter, whereupon momentum carried him across the counter and
into the laps of the couple, whose stools immediately dumped them over
backwards onto the floor, with sweaty gibbering insane Seth Putnam on
top of them.
It was awesome.
