1) WED 2/10, 5:30 PM: DELICIOUS INDIAN DINNER TO BENEFIT PRISON BOOKS!
Please join the Chapel Hill Prison Books Collective at a delicious
Indian eat in/take out dinner hosted by renowned Chapel Hill cook
Vimala Rajendran! Ms. Rajendran has generously offered the proceeds
of her famous weekly meal to benefit the Prison Books Collective, so
come out for scrumptious food, delightful company, and supporting an
important cause!
Dinner will begin at 5:30 PM. The location: 105 Lexington Drive in
Chapel Hill (Vimala's home) in Heritage Hill, off Smith Level Road.
Bringing your own containers to take home food is highly recommended;
you are also welcome to stay and eat at the house.
The menu for this Wednesday:
*Usal - Whole yellow peas stewed
*Bhaji - sir fried chopped seasonal, local vegetables
*Tamarind Rice (with or without peanuts - contact ahead for allergies)
*Rice Pudding
*Dahi-wada - Yogurt with bean patties (contact ahead if you are vegan)

All proceeds will benefit the Chapel Hill Prison Books Collective, a
local prison abolitionist group that sends hundreds of books each
month to prisoners in the South. In addition to providing vital
political and self-educational resources to prisoners, as well as
spreading a radical critique of the prison system on both sides of the
wall, the group maintains an extensive radical 'zine catalog,
publishes prisoners' art and writing in a bi-annual publication called
"Words of Fire", and we hosts a regular prison abolitionist reading
group. For more information on getting involved and supporting the
collective, including our monthly sustainer program, please visit
www.prisonbooks.info.
