---Details---
Tuesday November 17
=95 8:30P High Strung Music's Old Time Jam w/ Aaron Greenhood
Old-time music is a form of North American folk music, with roots in
the folk musics of many countries, including England, Scotland,
Ireland and Africa. This musical form developed along with various
North American folk dances, such as square dance, buck dance, and
clogging. The genre also encompasses ballads and other types of folk
songs. It is played on acoustic instruments, generally centering on a
combination of fiddle and plucked string instruments (most often the
guitar and banjo).

Wednesday November 18
=95 7:30P Open Mic Night
Open Mic is arranged to enable anyone to perform, so all you have to
do is turn up early and get your name down to perform. Originals and
cover music of every style and genre are welcome! Open mic is a great
way to practice your art and can also can be a proving ground for new
talent and material. The audience consists of singers, poets,
songwriters and music lovers so the atmosphere should be warm and
encouraging for everybody.

Thursday November 19
=95 8P Xeno Yuzna (rock/acoustic)
An accomplished performance musician and recording artist, Xeno Yuzna
is a North Carolina native who has been steady at work developing his
musical artistry since 1989. He has a broad range of musical talent
tucked into his portfolio. Classical, Flamenco, and Jazz are just a
few. You'll also find him playing styles as diverse as Rock, Hip-hop,
Reggae, Blues, Jam and Fusion in intimate, personal settings or at
larger venues with his group, the XYB. Xeno's original music is a
blended hybrid style. Searing solos are tempered with soaring
melodies. Clean, syncopated rhythms are laced with soulful vocals that
can switch instantly into a rapid-fire barrage of lyrical explosion.

=95 10P Rhonda Robichaux Band (jazz/swing/blues/funk)
An innovative and diverse mix of originals and classic blues, jazz,
funk, and rock. From slow and gritty to foot stomping fun!

Friday November 20
=95 8P Workbook (jazz w/ Brad Newell)
A jazz duo with a large repertoire of music ranging from laid back to
funky to standards. Thelonious Monk to Led Zeppelin.

=95 10P The Pneurotics (rock/indie/alt) - $5 Cover
We plan to play locally as much as they'll let us, record some more
songs, play out some more, make up some more songs, drink some beers
with friends and write drunk then hungover songs, then play out some
more. And oh, to hear our songs on the radio. Let us know if you want
to play a show with us!
Rich McLaughlin: Leader of the band, mathematician, magician,
juggler, wins most affable at a party. A self-taught guitarist, he
first picked up the guitar as a Zep-obsessed teen, now his guitar is
as much a part of him as his arm.
Mimi McLaughlin: Rich's wife and biggest fan. She got turned into
the bassist because the other one moved to Russia. Rich knows where
she lives, and finds it easy to get her to show up for band practice.
She hopes to someday be able to sing and play at the same time,
getting better all the time.
Gabe Mixon: New drummer! His sense of rhythm is solid, and his
creativity continues to blossom as he settles into the songs. He is
jovial and fun, and has added the percussive glue we've been looking
for.

=95 11:15P Filthybird (psych/country/regional mexican)
Music Worth Leaving The House For
Independent Weekly, Chapel Hill
-"There's a rich swirl of New South mystique hidden in Greensboro's
Filthybird, especially through frontwoman Renee Mendoza. Her
songwriting=97a collagist's reflection on the toils of love and life=97
proclaims a naivet=E9 rung through resilience and tenacity. "I was born
a bird/ A bird I will die," she sings on the perfect, "The Gospel as
Judas Told it to Me," her rangy, romantic voice carrying that charge
above a band capable of the same lull and lift. Filthybird moans in
textural splendor until they climb into big, clanging rock crescendos,
free and emphatic and strong. The band's debut, Southern Skies, is one
of the best 10 records you'll hear from this state all year,
guaranteed." =97Grayson Currin
"Filthybird are from Greensboro, and the one song I've heard is
weird and modulated & ethereal, like Joni Mitchell in her Jaco
Pastorius period, dropping acid with Jaco and then kinda free-
associating into the mic. Or rather, like that if the end-result wound
up genius, which seems unlikely, but in this case true." -Triangle
Rock

Saturday November 21
=95 8P Eric Sholtz

=95 10P Trees On Fire (rock/pop/electronica)
Smokin=92 hot music with a cause! That=92s definitely one way to sum up
the provocative, innovative and eco-promoting material of the
Charlottesville, Virginia rock band Trees on Fire. Nearly four years
into their career, Trees on Fire=92s five members have already built a
sizable fan base and captured the attention of music heavyweights such
as violinist Boyd Tinsley of the Dave Matthews Band.
Looks like these trailblazers could be on their way to the big time!
=93Trees on Fire is a band to watch for sure,=94 said Tinsley after
judging the group at a songwriting competition at the Star Hill Music
Hall in Charlottesville. =93I look forward to working with them.=94
What is it about Trees on Fire=92s sound that has people like Tinsley
singing their praises? According to co-founder and vocalist/guitarist
Blake Hunter, the group skillfully fuses ear-catching melodies with
unique harmonic concepts and world rhythms. He said he and his
bandmates are not afraid to push the creative envelope in order to
provide the listener with a fresh, exciting and inspiring experience.
