1) JAMES PROTZMAN READS FROM "JESUS SWEPT"! - WED 2/11, 7 PM

Don't miss this exciting literary event as Chapel Hill resident and
longtime Internationalist supporter James Protzman reads from his
brand new novel, "Jesus Swept".

The unlikely tale of hope lost, found and lost again on the North
Carolina coast, "Jesus Swept" celebrates a philosophy of life you can
put on a bumper sticker, with Hook, Sinker, Liz, Frank, Dog, and Jesus
himself, six souls twisted in a tangle of family threads that will
make you cry until you laugh - or until you try dying.

James Protzman is a freelance business writer and a blogger based
right here in Chapel Hill. For more information about the book and the
author, visit http://www.jamesprotzman.com.

2) CURRENT EVENTS FORUM: GREENBRIDGE AND BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Please come out to Internationalist Books tonight (Thursday, 1/29) at
7PM and let your voice be heard at our weekly Current Events Forum.
This will be a chance for friends and strangers to sit together and
talk about the issues of the day. While the event is in the
experimental stages, we hope that this will become a weekly or
biweekly get-together.

Each forum will begin with a discussion about 2-3 pre-selected current
events headlines. Afterwards the floor will be open to anyone and
everyone who wants to bring up any other topic/headline that they want
to to discuss.

The headlines for this Thursday's forum will be:

-The construction and future of the Greenbridge mixed-usage community
in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area

-Should there be a Black History Month?

Internationalist Books has always been about the free sharing of
ideas, so please don't think twice about sharing your own ideas (no
matter what position you are taking) at our Current Events Forum. Tell
your friends and your enemies to come sit and chat with other Ibooks
members, volunteers and community members about what's going on in the
world.

ONGOING EVENTS:

INTERNATIONALIST PRISON BOOKS COLLECTIVE
The Internationalist sponsors a program that sends free books and
literature to people incarcerated in Mississippi and Alabama. Since
2006 the Books to Prisoners collective has mailed educational
materials to thousands of prisoners, building solidarity with networks
of activists inside and out of prison agitating for justice and
alternatives to the prison system, while meeting a direct and urgent
need. There are many ways to get involved:

-Come fill requests at the weekly book-wrapping, which takes place
every Sunday from 1-4 PM at 218 N. Graham St. in Chapel Hill.

-DONATE books by dropping them off at the Internationalist!
Particularly in demand are dictionaries, thesauruses, African-American
history, culture, and fiction, self-help, Spanish language,
GED/education, and more (paperbacks only).
