Wednesday Feb 4
=95 7:00P Continuum Blues Jam
Come out to the Blues Jam every other Wednesday sponsored by Continuum
Consulting Services. Butch Haas will be facilitating this free-to-the-
public jam. So bring your gear, sign up for a time, and jam with some
of Durham=92s finest! Drums, keyboard, bass, guitar and harp amps
provided.

Thursday Feb 5
=95 7P Tessa Perry (Irish Folk) & Liz Clark (poetic pop)
Tessa Perry is a vocalist, guitarist, and writer whose sound is
steeped in the country-blues and folk traditions. She's rapidly
cultivating a loyal fan base on both sides of the Atlantic through her
startlingly fresh songs with lyrics that are wistful and punch-in-the-
gut candid. Whether playing to a sold-out 200-seat venue or an East
Village dive bar, Tessa spins images and observations of the world
around her into soulful, intimate communication with her audience.
Liz Clark is a New York City-based singer/songwriter with a
crystalline tone and charismatic stage presence that shine through her
poetic pop songs.
=95 10P Cap'n Billy (rock/acoustic/hip hop)

Friday Feb 6
=958P Stella CD Release Party
Stella, a 7-woman vocal group based in the NC Triangle, has released
their second CD. Since assembling loosely in 1998 to sing favorite
songs among themselves, the group of 7 became known as Stella in 2000
and moved on to public performances at house concerts and such venues
as the NC Museum of Art, Festival for the Eno, Artsplosure, Light Up
Durham, and the LEAF festival in Black Mountain. Different Skies
reflects the singers=92 compulsively eclectic tastes (doo-wop, gospel,
shape note, R&B and more), their love of good stories, and their
hunger for new musical adventures. Lise Uyanik (of Lise Uyanik and
Mobile City Band) says: =93Open your ears to these beautiful women's
voices and your heart will open too. You'll be delighted, intrigued,
and entertained. You'll turn to gooseflesh. This record is gorgeous.=94
Stella will sing 2 short sets - at 8:30 and 9:30, followed by a dance
party.

Saturday Feb 7
=95 8P iNSIDEoUT's Safe Schools Awareness Benefit Show
Join us at the Broad St. Cafe February 7, from 8pm onward, for a
spectacular night of soulful tunes, featuring local musical guests
Stranger Spirits (rock/melodic alt-pop/rocktacular), Harmute (folk/
acoustic/indie), and Crash (hip hop/rap/alternative).

DID YOU KNOW that teachers ARE NOT required by any law to step in when
they see students being harassed by their peers? That means ANYONE can
be bullied on the basis of race, religion, or gender and no one is
required to help. LGBT students in particular suffer from our neglect
to address this problem that SHOULD NOT be ignored!! So. How can you
help? How can you educate yourself on this issue that affects you and
your friends? Come join your fearless and fabulous friends at
iNSIDEoUT in our quest for schools that are safe for ANYONE to express
their identities. We'll be handing out postcards and petitions so that
you can do your part!

iNSIDEoUT is a youth-founded, youth-led organization that provides
leadership opportunities & a safe space for Triangle-area LGBTQISA-
queer youth, both in & out of schools. By providing educational-,
social-, & activism-oriented programs, iNSIDEoUT strives to form &
strengthen GSAs while connecting & empowering youth, seeking to expand
beyond the Triangle. iNSIDEoUT encourages you to become a part of our
family & community.
