Still time to catch this...

Girls Rock NC and the Colony Twin in Raleigh are proud to present 'Girls
Rock!, the Movie', screening Friday, June 6 to June 12, 2008. The
documentary follows four girls at the Portland, Oregon Rock 'n' Roll Camp
for Girls who, despite their many differences, find that they are struggling
with the same fundamental issues associated with being a girl in today's
Hannah Montana society. These girls, and a thousand more at rock camps
around the world, find a stronger sense of self and a louder, more powerful
voice as they form bands, write songs and perform them for their community.
'Girls Rock!' documents that journey. Here's what others have to say:

"Young women find expression for more than their music in 'Girls Rock!' a
jubilant documentary about a place where power chords and empowerment go
hand in hand....Employing an amiably chaotic visual style that includes
crude animation and campy postwar hygiene films, they record the battle to
wrestle girl culture from the hands of Paris and Britney with the enthusiasm
of true believers."
Jeannette Catsoulis- New York Times

"The act of picking up a guitar and making some noise becomes a
life-changing experience in "Girls Rock!," an irresistible new documentary
from filmmakers Arne Johnson and Shane King...every girl between the ages of
8 and 18 should be required to check it out."
-Mary Houlihan, Chicago Sun-Times

"It's the best film of the new year, a funny, wise and inspiring ode to
spirits set free. And it rocks."
-ST Louis Post-Dispatch

"Revolutionary, heartbreaking and laugh-out-loud funny. Absolutely not to be
missed."
-Seattle Magazine
