FREEDOM ROAD SOCIALIST MEETING
Join us for an evening of discussion on the Iraq war, the U.S. antiwar
movement, and our tasks in current period. We will begin with a short
presentation on the current conditions of the Iraq war?the balance of
forces between the Iraqi resistance and the occupation, the effects of
the "surge", and what is likely to unfold over the coming year. This
will be followed by an overview and discussion of the antiwar movement
in 2007. The main focus of the event will be to discuss and debate the
main tasks in building the antiwar movement in 2008 ? how best to
build the mass movement, raise the anti-imperialist politics of the
movement as a whole, and increase the militancy of our actions. The
discussion will be informed in part by a short pamphlet from Freedom
Road Socialist Organization, available here:
http://frso.org/about/statements/2007/antiwartasks2007.htm The
discussion is open to all who are interested to build the antiwar
movement. It will last until about 8:30pm.
The event is free but we will pass the hat for the benefit of
Internationalist Books. Please contact Kosta with questions,

JEFF GARIGLIANO: DOGFACE
Join us for a reading and discussion of Jeff Garigliano?s book, Dogface.
14-year-old Loren is the unlikely hero of Dogface. When a mission to
destroy his mom?s boyfriend?s golf course goes embarrassingly awry,
Loren?s mom sends him to Camp Ascend!, a remote facility that
specializes in whipping mixed-up teens back into shape. Camp Ascend!
was founded by Ray Kellogg, a.k.a. the Colonel, who claims a
distinguished military background but is really a con man with zero
military experience but a few convictions for fraud. When Loren
figures out what the camp and the Colonel are really about, he finds
himself with a real-life mission: take the place down.

MATT CALLAHAN AND YVONNE MOORE
After eight years of working together on each other's solo projects
Mat and Yvonne have discovered the creative potential of the duet.
The special sound of two voices singing together, in close harmony,
have inspired a new repertoire and a new approach to performance for
both of them. Exploring the limits set by one acoustic guitar, two
voices and a few 'folk' instruments such as the harmonica and hand
percussion, Mat and Yvonne are finding refreshment in what is very
old. They liken it to an invitation to join them in their living room.
Here, the wine flows, tales are told and recipes are shared. All
are welcome, all may partake and all can contribute to the celebration
of friendship.

OUR FRIENDS DO AWESOME STUFF TOO! SUPPORT THEM!

"Crashing the Conventions: a presentation, FAQ, and discussion about
direct action planning against the Republican and Democratic National
Conventions." By late summer 08, there will have been an unprecedented
two years of national organizing, networking, and strategizing across
the country in preparation for the electoral conventions. As folks
become more and more convinced that "speaking truth to power" is a
hopeless cause (power doesnt listen!), more and more have begun
participating in conversations about coordinated, strategic direct
actions to disrupt both electoral conventions. This workshop will be a
unique opportunity to find out what these strategies looks like, learn
about the local organizing being done on the ground in denver, CO
(DNC) and st. paul, MN (RNC), learn about local geography, and meet
folks who have been involved in this process since its beginning.

April 4-6th -
Central NC Direct Action Camp : For a weekend people from all over
central NC will gather to develop skills including self defense,
interacting with police and media, operating communications equipment,
various forms of blockading, legal observing, street medic training,
direct action planning, and more! This is intended as a way for folks
to deepen their local connections and strategize for local campaigns,
as well as build their skills and confidence for this summer's
Democratic and Republican National Conventions. There will be a
collective field kitchen, but folks will need to bring their own
camping gear (and bringing your own food isnt a bad idea either!)
Email centralncactioncamp AT riseup.net to RSVP and get directions. The
camp is, of course, free.
