I went to the Crocodile twice in '99. Once to eat breakfast, it was kind of
good. The other time to see live music, a band I liked a lot-unwound, a
previous discussion on the matter is archived on this list ;) ....and the
bouncers were total goons, as soon as the band was finished they kicked
everyone out, so my feelings about it's closing are biased because of that,
but it is indeed unfortunate when revered music venues shut down in towns
that aren't full of them. The Hideaway closing is not good, but as noted by
Grady it sucks for those involved with it, this isn't Austin,TX where such a
place seems to work (and yeah the food just wasn't doing it for me). As for
the Brewery, I don't know how it's lasted this long. No matter who owns it,
the place won't die. A lot of places come and go in that part of Raleigh,
people who frequent the place today don't entirely like the place. I think
the last thing I saw there was in fall of '00, 7 Seconds. The people made
up like Kevin Seconds circa '83 seemed to creep out Kevin Seconds himself.
