Thursday @ Nightlight there will be a show I've been very excited for, the
Southern debut of DIAGRAM A with some familiar reliables rounding things
out.
DIAGRAM A skillfully explores the harsh malfunctions of telephone apparatus
and other homemade machines. He's been toiling away within the New England
noise belt since the early 2000s, spawned in the midst of the legendary
Providence scene explosion from the turn of the century if heresay is
accurate. But that is behind us now and this is now and he is good from all
I've heard so if you're in the mood for an idiosynchratic
all-frequency-encompassing non-hippie (not that there's anything wrong with
that) noise performance, this is it!
The rest of the show should be good too, also they got:
DOUBLE MUSLIMS << Sun City Girls-ish vibed avant-rock band homebased at the
Pilot Light of Tenessee, cello-sax-gtr-drums
CLANG QUARTET << solo X-tian improvised percussion + noise, usually very
moving. In the past year or so the performance has ratcheted-up in
intensity. After about five years I learned that the 'quartet' is in fact
all of Scotty's limbs. Insistently engaging, sweaty.
THE WHOLE WORLD LAUGHING << bass + drums duo, Dave Cantwell of Cantwell
Gomez & Jordan + Scotty Irving of Clang Quartet, like a "proggier" Skin
Graft band. V. Nice
Show starts at 9:30ish! It's six bucks. It's a Thursday on Rosemary St so be
prepared for a fashionable throng of khaki pants + summer dresses.
NIGHTLIGHT is located in the same space as Skylight Exchange, 405 1/2 W
Rosemary St
