Nightlight is seeking a new Booking/Artist Relations Manager to begin
September 1st. If you need someone to explain what Nightlight is, you
are almost certainly not the right person for the job.

Expected Results:

1. Ensure that the schedule has a good amount of shows each month with
a nice diversity of music represented, especially good doses here and
there of experimental goofery or outrageous nonsense.
2. Make sure the website accurately represents upcoming events and
provides adequate descriptions to communicate the intent of each show.
3. Make sure each show has its sound needs met.
4. Make sure the artists who need to get paid get paid.

This job is more about meeting these results than doing a
pre-determined set of duties. It is up to the booking person to figure
out how the above things happen. That said, the responsibilities of
the job include the following.

Job Responsibilities

1. Setting up shows and performances. This mainly includes answering
emails and corresponding with potential artists. Maintain close
contact with booking agencies and complete contracts
2. Work closely with the Nightlight manager, Alexis, to ensure that
shows are properly promoted. This includes making and distributing
fliers, promotional materials, email distribution, myspace messages,
and other types of promotion as appropriate.
3. Consistently update the Nightlight schedule
(http://www.nightlightclub.com/schedule.html).
4. Have a creative taste for the absurd, as well as an appreciation
and eye for performance art.
5. Must be open-minded and willing to book all types of shows - not
just the weirdest thing on the planet, nor the most normal thing, but
all shades between, above, and around the backside.
6. Maintain constant communication with Alexis, attend monthly meetings
7. Attend at least roughly 50% of the shows in order to maintain good
relations with performers, gauge turn-out and audience response, and
help out as needed.
8. Coordinate with Alexis and Ethan to make sure that all sound needs
are met for each show and that the sound system is working and
operated properly on each night
9. Fill in and work at Nightlight from time to time, on an on-call basis.

To apply, please send a brief email stating your interest and telling
us why you think you would make a good Nightlight booking person plus
three references. Resumes are not necessary but could be helpful.
Writing samples,
musical histories, drawings, manifestos, or voodoo dolls may be
appropriate. Salary and details of payment will be discussed at interview.
