Wow - Record Crowds - Close to 1,000 people came to the Saxapahaw Market last weekend - amazing- and still hometown - thanks so much for supporting local farmers, musicians, artists and the concept of community!

Wood & Steel is an acclaimed bluegrass band based in the Piedmont, an area steeped in bluegrass tradition, with a reverence for traditional sound and a repertoire of diverse songs from a variety of sources all done “bluegrass style”. Tight smooth vocals, rock-solid rhythm and outstanding instrumental punch are the hallmarks of Wood & Steel sound. "Bluegrass in one of its most pure, unfiltered forms!" Tony Rice

At the Farmers' Market, Lots of ready-to-eat delicious goods and we've got Locally Lovingly Produced Wine from Benjamin Vineyards-and now we have Fish! Shrimp, Scallops Salmon and Mussels from The Shrimp Man - Flowers- Honey-, Fresh Grilled Corn, strawberries, heirloom pork, cheese, foccacia, cookies, breads, and treats, eggs, fresh veggies and produce and delicious jellies, chutneys, honey and more! The Barbecue Joint has set up shop and will be with us EVERY WEEK this summer selling a wide variety of dinners including vegetarian options AND this year we have a growing artisan market with beautiful handcrafted items including a new toymaker with great stuffies for kids, pottery, jewelry, wooden toys, birdhouses and furniture.


In the Kid's Area CERES will be setting up exciting events and activities for children including the Famous Zipboat ( a kayak on a zipline - low to the ground) the Environmentally Engineered Slip-N- Slide, created in the shape of the Haw River this year complete with tributaries, a new children's musical village, face painting, children's arts & crafts. The weekly kid's parade is just wonderful as the kids travel across the hills humming tunes and laughing it up! Children's Activities made possible by www.Bioallies.com


Festivities take place in central Saxapahaw next to the Post Office and across from the Saxapahaw Rivermill every Saturday from 5pm-8pm through the end of August. Admission is free though donations are appreciated, organizers pass around a "Swan Bucket" each week for the band.

The series is sponsored by the Saxapahaw Rivermill and by local businesses including Anderson Homes' Haw Village, Open Eye Cafe, Fifth Season Gardening, Townsend Bertram and The Barbecue Joint.

Saturday events take place outside in downtown Saxapahaw next to the Post Office. The Farmers Market and Children's Activities run from 5-8 and bands play on the Haywagon Stage at the Meadow Amphitheater from 6-8. Special Fundraiser for Bradley Saunders!!!!
Bradley is a young graduating senior from Southern High School. On his last day of school, he was excused early because of exemption of exams for straight A's. That same day he was in a tragic car accident leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. He was an avid athlete and star wrestler. The doctors have told him that he will never walk again. The family has been devastated emotionally, physically, and financially. He spent 3 weeks at UNC and was not able to attend his own graduation. His dad accepted his diploma in his honor.
BLAST AT THE BALL FIELD WILL BE A COMMUNITY EVENT AND FUNDRAISER FOR THE FAMILY
