Diversions is celebrating the Triangle music scene with a party to be
held Friday, April 13 at Local 506 in Chapel Hill.
The festivities will feature performances by Nathan Asher & The
Infantry, The Honored Guests and Nathan Oliver. There also will be a
dance party after the show, and free snacks compliments of the
Diversions staff. There is no cover charge.
Headliners Nathan Asher & The Infantry have won numerous songwriting
awards including a Great American Songwriting Award and a John Lennon
Songwriting Award. But this Raleigh band is never too bogged down in
lyricism to forget how to rock. The Infantry's dynamic live show is
not to be missed.
The Honored Guests will take the stage following the release of 2006's
Tastes Change, released on Breakfast Mascot Records and, like The
Infantry will be fresh off a stint at the famed South By Southwest
festival in Austin. The band's layered style of rock is loaded with
gorgeous melodies and an understated urgency.
Nathan Oliver is a relative newcomer, having just released his debut
album on Pox World Empire in February. The UNC Dentistry student has a
dynamic and endearing brand of indie rock sure to please even the most
discerning listener.
Diversions is The Daily Tar Heel's arts and entertainment weekly,
which runs every Thursday. It features concert coverage, reviews,
interviews and more. Consider it the friendly neighborhood 'zine you
can find tucked into Thursday's DTH.
And consider this party a thank you for all your hard work. If you get
the chance, come out and say hi.
Any questions? Feel free to e-mail me off list.
