*THIS* SATURDAY, JANUARY 14 - DESERT CITY POETRY SERIES: ED ROBERSON
& TODD SANDVIK, 8pm

On January 12th the Desert City Poetry Series holds its first reading of the year at Internationalist Books. This Saturday will feature Ed Roberson, author of "Atmosphere Conditions," "Just In / Word of
Navigational Challenge," "Voices Cast Out to Talk Us In," and others; Lila Wallace Readers Digest Award recipient. We will also welcome Todd Sandvik, Carrboro Poet Laureate, curator of the Blue Door Late Night
Series, and veteran of the Carrboro Poetry Festival.

Ken Rumble would like me to include that Mr. Roberson taught all the cats how to land on their feet, and Mr. Sandvik put all the lightening in Thor's Hammer. Questions about these anecdotes and anything regarding Desert City can be directed to rumblek AT bellsouth.net. $2 donation requested to support the series & the readers.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 21 - GRASSROOTS TV SHOW 'INDEPENDENT VOICES' SCREENING AND DISCUSSION HOSTED BY ELENA EVERETT @ IBOOKS, 2 pm

Independent Voices is a grassroots cable TV show from the triangle area of North Carolina. Their latest episode features post-Katrina Gulf issues, triangle residents' fight against Wal-Mart, Israeli nuclear program, and Angela Davis on the prison-industrial complex. Join Triangle Area Green Party's co-chair and indyvoices co-producer Elena Everett for the screening of Independent Voices, followed by discussion on post-Katrina reconstruction and corporate subsidies.
