Has anyone listened to Snatches of Pink's
newest CD called "STAG"? It's been in my
car CD player for 3 weeks running. Great
mix of Johnny Thunders, Exiles-era Stones,
Bob Stinson-era Replacements and those
downer Aerosmith LPs from the late 70s
when the band was disintegrating. All this,
but slowed way down, and played way loose
and dirty. A one, maybe two take wonder...
I was curious about their other stuff and
went out and bought "Heyna" which was
released to good reviews in the 90s. It
was ok, but nothing like STAG. STAG is
a goddamn breakthrough.
What's the story with this band? I
recently saw them in Chapel Hill at Local
506 with the Detroit Cobras. They were
confoundingly good - and yet hardly
anyone in the crowd reacted. Anyone
here listening to STAG? Anyone even
aware of it? I can't understand why
this band isn't the toast of the town
right now.
