*THIS* FRIDAY, MAY 20 – CROSS GENDER CARAVAN @ Internationalist, 7pm.

The Cross Gender Caravan - an all transgender writing and performance troupe - are storming the East and West coasts like a gender-bent juggernaut, reading to sold-out bars and packed bookstores. On May 20, three transmen will be at Internationalist Books as they gun it through the sleepy South. With three books that speak to the diversity of
trans-male and trans-planted experience, authors Tennessee Jones, Andre Hewitt and Emil Heiple will be challenging perceptions about gender, class, and regional storytelling. Catch the start of a new ex-punk, post-queer, take-no-prisoners literary movement.

*THIS* SATURDAY & SUNDAY, MAY 21 & 22 –
CARRBORO POETRY FESTIVAL @ the Carrboro Century Center

The second annual Carrboro International Poetry Festival, to be held at the Century Center (100 N. Greensboro St) in downtown Carrboro, NC, will be open and free to the public from 12pm to 9pm on Saturday and from 12pm to 6pm on Sunday. This year's festival will feature 40 poets from the US, Canada, and Mexico. You can find a schedule of readers and other information at the festival’s website, http://carrboropoetryfestival.org.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 25 – Screening: 'THE TAKE' @ Internationalist, 7pm.

“In the wake of Argentina’s spectacular economic collapse in 2001, Latin America’s most prosperous middle class finds itself in a ghost town of abandoned factories and mass unemployment. In suburban Buenos Aires, thirty unemployed auto-parts workers walk into their idle factory, roll out sleeping mats and refuse to leave. All they want is to re-start the silent machines. But this simple act —the take —has the power to turn the globalization debate on its head.” Bring your friends, bring a snack, and join us for a screening of this awesome documentary.

THURSDAY, JUNE 9 – IBOOKS COOKS @ WEAVER ST. MARKET, 6-8

Come to the Weaver Street Lawn for Weaver Street’s After Hours and support your bookstore! Ibooks will be grilling up food for sale with profits going directly to the bookstore. Evening entertainment will be Contrazz, featuring David DiGiuseppe, Rodney Marsh, Bernie Petteway and Diane Petteway playing a jazz/tradional fusion.
