DESERT CITY READING - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 19 at 8PM

The Desert City Poetry Series presents 2004 National Book Award Finalist Cole Swensen and Durham Resident Chris Vitiello. The reading will take place at Internationalist Books in Chapel Hill on Saturday, February 19th, at 8 PM. Desert City is an ongoing monthly reading series hosted by Ken Rumble and Internationalist Books. Donations to support the poets and series are encouraged; the reading is open to the public. SCATTERED, COVERED AND SMOTHERED - AN EVENING OF LITERATURE AND FOOD

An evening of literary and culinary goodness from the publishers and authors of Scattered, Covered, Smothered, an anthology of food-related fiction, poetry and unusual recipes. Published by local small press publisher Two Cranes Press (www.twocranespress.com), Scattered, Covered, Smothered has been described as "what could easily be one of the smartest, coolest and best anthologies to show up in 2004" (Rick Kleffel, The Agony Column). Several of the contributors will be reading selections from their work and preparing unusual and delicious recipes. Participants include Nora Jemison, Louise Dolan, Luna Black, Elizabeth A. Jasper and Jamie Bishop.

May 7, 2005 at the Carrboro Artscenter -- Internationalist Books will be hosting our first annual book fair, featuring publishers, writers and other members of the literary community from around North Carolina and beyond.
