Please forward this announcement to friends, family, co-workers, community listservs, and any other folks who love Durham and/or live music. We appreciate your help in getting the word out.

Our goal is to pack the Fowler's porch and parking lot on Friday night! Following the 8/6 bluegrass show, the Fowler's Music Series will take a few weeks off, giving our staff the chance to enjoy a well-earned summer vacation.

We will return refreshed and ready to rock on Friday 9/3! Save the date for a Labor Day/Back To School Rock & Roll Party headlined by local favorites The Bleeding Hearts from Raleigh. They have a great new album out now called "Stayin' After Class" ~ highly recommended if you like Cheap Trick, The Cars, AC/DC, The Ramones, Johnny Thunders, or mid-period Rolling Stones.

Thanks,
Lora

FOWLER'S PORCH & GARAGE MUSIC SERIES
112 S. DUKE ST, DURHAM NC, 683-2555
OUR NEXT SHOW: FRIDAY, AUGUST 6

Join us for a top-notch double bill of traditional Carolina Bluegrass on Fowler's covered back porch in historic downtown Durham.

Enjoy a fine summer evening sitting outdoors on an old-fashioned pine plank porch. Warm and breezy southern skies, cold beer, and the plaintive sounds of acoustic guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, pedal steel, and stand-up bass...plus more beautiful harmony singing than you can shake a stick at...and don't forget the Amtrak train whistling and rolling on down the line! Mellow, family-friendly atmosphere.

Bands:
-- Chatham County Line: Four piece group out of Raleigh, fresh from winning top prize in the overall band competition at the RockyGrass Bluegrass Festival in Lyons, Colorado. http://www.chathamcountyline.com.

-- Bluemont Road: Five piece band hailing from across the Triangle, led by former Tremblers frontman Greg Hawks and boasting the fiddling prowess of a sixteen year old girl wonder. No website yet, but here are some digital pictures of them at James Street Pharmacy in Hillsborough: http://homepage.mac.com/alexhoward/bluemont/PhotoAlbum9.html.

Tickets/Logistics:
Concert starts at 8:00 pm, box office opens at 6:00 pm. Tickets $8 in advance through http://www.team1512.com or $10 at the door (cash only). All ages are welcome, kids ten and younger get in free. All shows are general admission. Please arrive early if you want prime seating as there are only 60-70 chairs and a few tables. For acoustic shows many people sit on the floor of the porch itself; you may also bring lawn chairs to set up in the blocked-off parking lot area.

Party, Party, Afterparty:
Free after-parties at Federal and Joe & Jo's! Both bars are easy walking distance from Fowler's (one across from Brightleaf Square, the other more toward downtown). WXDU DJ and Sugar Hill staffer Steve Gardner spins his favorite Americana selections at Federal. Cheap drink specials and late night food available.
