Some noteworthy New Arrivals

Bioregional Solutions for Living on One Planet
Authored by Pooran Desai and Sue Riddlestone, co-founders and Directors of
BioRegional Development Group in the UK. In this books they show how we
can meet more of our needs for wood products, paper, textiles, food and
housing from local renewable and waste resources. They also outline the
theoretical frameork of bioregional development and quantify how we can
significantly reduce CO2 emissions and recycle waste.

The 15 Biggest Lies in Politics
By congressional correspondent Major Garrett and former congressman
Timothy J. Penny. This strongly argued but nonpartisan book illuminates
the deceptions and delusions to which citizens are subjected during
election seasons.

Staying Alive
A book on women, ecology and development by Vandana Shiva. Shiva explores
the unique place of women in the environment of India. She claims that
the impact of science, technology, economics and politics are inherently
exploitive, marginalizing both women and nature. She shows how ecology
movements created by Indian women constitute a non-violent and inclusive
alternative to the dominanat paradigm of contemporary scientific and
development thought.
