So, our old friend Butch Lazorchak is presenting a couple of his papers from his past few semesters of ILS grad school at UNC this week, as part of the Music in Context series. The papers themselves have some definitely Academic moments (hoo-boy, check out those footnotes and appendices), but since they're about the Triangle music scene of the 90s, and more specifically about digital communications/archiving issues surrounding the scene (in other words, this list/newsgroup features prominently), y'all might be interested.

You can (and should) read the papers online beforehand (links below) & that way you'll be prepped for the Q&A at the end of Butch's talk.
