Dear Guys

As you know, Wiki Loves Africa has been a long time in forming. Just to remind you, it is a continent wide photographic competition. This project has now been fully conceptualised and proposed for a Grant Application from the Wikimedia Foundation. You can find all the information here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG/Africa_Centre/Wiki_Loves_Africa_2014

As I have sent out to the Wiki Indaba group, we are looking for a group of Wikip/median volunteers each country to run the local competition. We have already put down your country as participating and it is part of your tasks – as agreed at the beginning of the year.

To move forward
, what I would like you to do is the following:
  1. get together a core group of people who are part of the Open network in your country (they don’t have to be wikipedians but one or two would help – so would a marketing/publicity specialist and perhaps someone from a food network/chef / etc.)
  2. introduce the project to them – and get 2 or three people to commit to running the project with you.
  3. once you have got a group of 3 people, please add your country to the list of “Particpating Countries” by putting forward the name of your country and detailing your name (and those of your core group (its a good idea to have them register on Meta, if they haven’t already) and affiliation -
  4. You should also then write your name and country to endorse the grant here:  https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG/Africa_Centre/Wiki_Loves_Africa_2014#Endorsement

I am very excited to work on this project. Have a great weekend!

Warmest
Isla
