And I am  Dick Kawooya part of the Uganda team. I am a senior lecturer at the School of Information Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

My PhD in Communication and Information, with a concentration in information policy and law is from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville (completed in 2008 but actually graduating this Spring!).

I have been involved in a number of projects on copyright and access to information in Africa since 2003 with the most recent being the African copyright and access to knowledge project (www.aca2k.org) for which I was lead researcher. My passion is understanding the IP dynamics in Africa's informal sectors. I am in the process of developing a research project on that very topic.

In the meantime, I am excited to be part of cc Africa.

I see a few familiar faces (Tobias, Prof.Nwauche). I am sure I will get to know others with time.

Dick
