There was a lot of press last year about how certain popular oldies
(Elvis songs, for instance) were going to become part of the public

Public Domain or did the copyholders win some sort of stay?
The copyright over recordings (which was the issue raised by Elvis songs)
is fifty years. Elvis's recordings are starting to fall into the public
domain. The first, "That's Alright", fell into the public domain in the UK
on the 1st of January. No stay has yet been won.
