Hi there

Totally agree that NetHui is a prime opportunity to discuss Creative Commons. One of the predominant conversations around CC at the moment is the application of licences to publicly funded and/or crown copyright materials.

The 'Government and Openness' stream currently has a session posted which focusses on 'open data and licensing' at 3.30pm on Thursday 30th, including CC and the New Zealand Government Open Access and Licensing framework <http://nethui.org.nz/forum/government-and-openness/workshop-5-open-data-and-licensing>.

Further to that, InternetNZ will kindly make a space available for us to hold a CC meetup directly after the last Thursday session. This will be an opportunity for the CC community to come together to discuss CC in a broader sense. I'll post some more details on that soon. People won't need to be registered for the conference to attend the meetup, but I would highly recommend it since it you will get to experience a Lessig keynote in person and come along to the open data session.

You can register for Nethui at <http://nethui.org.nz/registration> (InternetNZ have done a great job at bringing the fees right down).

Kia ora koutou

I just registered for NetHui, no way I'm going to miss another
opportunity to hear Lessig speak in Aotearoa! Look forward to seeing
some of you there?

I wonder if it would be worth offering a session on copyright,
copyleft, and CC for those attending?

Nga mihi

mmm  Danyl, not a bad idea to run a session on copyright post NetHui

WE have a full set of online teaching materials available under the Open Content Licensing for Educators initiative which are free for reuse. Perhaps one or two CC volunteers would be keen to facilitate an online workshop?

See: http://wikieducator.org/Open_content_licensing_for_educators/Workshop_schedule
