A new book, Intelligent Multimedia: Managing Creative
Works in a Digital World, has just been published by European Press
Academic Publishing that has a lot of CC-themed/relevant material. http://www.e-p-a-p.com/publications/bookcard.php?isbn=9788883980633
By CC friends (and former staffer) Danièle Bourcier, Pompeu
Casanovas, Mélanie Dulong de Rosnay and Catharina Maracke, the book summarises
and examines the social and technical transformation of users to cultural
actors enabled by affordable computer technologies coupled with the advances in
multimedia technology. It has an entire section on ‘Creative Commons and
Digital Rights: A New Kind of Governance’ with 10 separate chapters, each
penned by a different CC affiliate/friend from around the world, covering
topics from tech commons to open education materials. CCau staffers Anne
Fitzgerald, Neale Hooper, Brian Fitzgerald contributed the chapter ‘The
Use of Creative Commons Licensing to Enable Open Access to Public Sector
Information and Publicly Funded Research Results: An Overview of Recent
Australian Developments’. Anyone interested in CC and its place in the current world
should consider ordering a copy. Jessica |
