Overall an informative and thought provoking article:

However the section about Creative Commons is poorly stated. If third
parties erroneously publish public domain works under CC licenses,
that's not something Creative Commons has control. And the
representation of CC Public Domain as some kind of grab of intellectual
property is just daft.

Well worth reading apart from that, though. Definitely agree that the
public domain needs the same explicit protections that copyright stuff
has. Although the root issue of big corps having more legal power than
the plebs isn't going to be going to be solved by making new laws.
