Kia ora koutou

A few weeks ago I went to the recording of a live album and "open source
remix project" by Poneke electronica artist Jeremiah Ross, aka Module.
That album, PatternDotLife (version 1.0), has been released under a
CC-Attribution license, and is available for download in its entirety on
the project website. Ross encourages people to remix and reuse the
tunes, and provides downloads of raw audio files to facilitate this, as
well as facilities for remixers to upload their own interpretations of
the work.

This is one of the more exciting open media projects I've seen, which
aims to go beyond merely slapping an open license on the traditional
cultural production models of the recording industry, and actually
encourages a multimedia conversation between artists and audience

had been arrested, protesters held up larger mirrors to the federal
police, who could see their faces in the mirrors with the superimposed
words: 'I am a rapist.'"
