NATIONAL DIGITAL FORUM CONFERENCE 2008 27 - 28 NOVEMBER 2008,
AUCKLAND

NDF Conference Early Bird Registration Closes Soon

The NDF"s annual conference is on 27-28 November at the University of
Auckland with the theme of Creating value in a digital New Zealand.

The NDF are very pleased to announce Dr Markus Brantl and Graeme Austin
as additional contributors to the programme. They join the two keynote
speakers: George Oates, member of the founding team behind Flickr, and
manager of The Commons on Flickr; Dr Paul Gerhardt, Director of Archives
for Creativity; and guests Seb Chan from the Powerhouse Museum and Lynda
Kelly from the Australian Museum, Sydney.

Dr Markus Brantl is the Director of the Digitisation Centre at the
Bavarian State Library, one of the largest European libraries. Graeme
Austin, who is currently J. Byron McCormick Professor of Law at the
Rogers College of Law, University of Arizona and Visiting Faculty at the
Melbourne Law School, is an authority on New Zealand and international
copyright law.
The forum this year is more interactive, and all delegates will
participate in group discussion forums and workshops throughout the
conference.
Forum themes include Mātauranga Māori and digitisation, Intellectual
Property, Copyright and Creative Commons, Digitising for access,
Digitisation standards, Digital preservation, Creating new knowledge,
and User generated content.
Workshop topics include Web metrics, Use of social media in websites,
Copyright, Early proto-typing and custom tools for large scale
digitisation projects, Audience research, Project management, and a
Usability Lab for live testing of user submitted websites. There will
also be demonstration sessions of various digitisation projects from
around the country.

Please note that earlybird registration closes on 17 October 2008.
