Subject: RE: cc-nz rdf format
Hello all,
I have a question about NZ CC license of v3 rdf format.
If we check in format of rdf for NZ, it is totally different from
default and also in other countries of v3.
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/nz/rdf
Based on NZ-rdf I can't tell what CC license I am using it now (except
it is related to NZ)
Compare to rdf of Philippine or US
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/ph/rdf
Based on the content, I can differentiate which version and what type of
CC license it is.
My question is why we have to use this rdf format and how can I
differentiate the CC license type.
Is there any info that I can refer to?
Thank you.

Hello all
Could someone let me know about using ported NZ licenses?
Can I use this one?
http://creativecommons.org/license/?jurisdiction=nz
Its currently not on the main jurisdiction drop down list. Or linked
from the website so I was not sure if its really ok to use.
We want to integrate the licensing into our system for users who submit
content and have a working pilot using the generic license, but it would
be great to pilot the NZ one.
Many thanks for any info

I would be very keen to experiment with open source, open standard video
conferencing systems. Would be useful for other free culture projects I
am involved in too, eg Indymedia.
However, we also have an offer from Sam Searle to use the KAREN
high-bandwidth network to have a CC webconference. Is anyone keen on
doing this? What would be on the agenda?

I have access to KAREN down here from my laptop (when I'm at
university), and
am willing to help where I can. I have no webcam hardware, but if anyone
can
recommend a cheap one that works with Linux, I'm happy to help
experiment.

If you want to see some open source tools which also involve KAREN, have

Hi All,
I am conscious that most of the CC work to date has been Wellington
centric.
We do need to be more inclusive and I think KAREN VCs would be a great
way
to do that.
We face a big challenge to raise awareness of the use and benefits of NZ
CC
and using these tools would certainly help.

Thanks to Paul for pointing out the BeSTGRID project and the work they
are doing within the research community (universities and CRIs
specifically) promoting open tools like Access Grid and EVO for use over
the KAREN network.
The website for the emerging community around KAREN and
videoconferencing is http://avcc.karen.net.nz.
There is an opportunity to link up various 'nodes' around NZ for events
using the universities as a base so that we could make the most of the
high bandwidth that KAREN provides. It's worth noting though that tools
like Access Grid and EVO really require KAREN, so they wouldn't be ideal
for people wanting to come in from work/home via standard broadband.
Nevertheless, for getting groups of people together face-to-face at a
local level and then linking to the other centres, the tools work really
well, so in terms of getting more involvement outside of Wellington this
would be one approach. Also there is no technical burden on participants
in terms of having to download/install/learn to use software - they just
need to turn up!
A list of the available 'nodes' is at
http://avcc.karen.net.nz/wiki/Node_Locations - you'll see there is
decent coverage across the main centres.
As KAREN is peered with AARNet in Australia, there is also a chance to
involve colleagues from Australia in any events/discussions. (And
elsewhere overseas too - but the problem with timezones makes it easier
with Oz.)
Cheers
