As noted previously, CC does use dc:creator.
So does MusicBrainz actually. Look at <http://www.musicbrainz.org/MM/mq_examples.html#artist>. The things analogous to CC "Work" metadata are MM "Album" and MM "Track" metadata. They both use
<dc:creator rdf:resource="{MB artist ID}" />
to reference the creator of a track or album. MB would/does have the exact same issues concerning use of dc:creator vs. dc:contributor.
