I wonder if this scenario is new to you and what you would adivse:

 

One of our sister organizations wants to start publishing on the Web articles written by its staff but produced in refereed journals.

One of the Publishing Houses of these articles replied to the request with these words:

"Reproduction of this material is confined to the posting of the articles on

the organization's web site and excludes the enabling or permitting of linking or

harvesting of metadata".

 

We are surprised that metadata can be restricted by copyright, and upset because we wanted to create an InfoFinder for our users but we imagine that we will not be able to put metadata up of articles (albeit written by our staff) in the InfoFinder because the Publishing House claims this extensive copyright.
