Hi CC mailing list,
thought: if creative commons gets involved with the collection system on terms and conditions that agree with the current boards of the collection system (outside the US), would this not ultimately create worse "ecology" for the arts in the long term ? Well over 75 percent of members within the collection societies are not with publishers. If these members get together then they are able to collectively vote to change the system they are a part of (in the case of APRA in Australia this is possible) The way forward is maybe to be to push for a one member one vote system within collection societies as part of a plan to incorporate the CC license into the collection system. To avoid the one member one vote issue, so as to remain on the good side of the collection system could potentially have a negative effect on some CC artists. http://www.myspace.com/optoutofapra .
