Hey,

There are differences in the licenses, some waiver collection society fees
and some (ironically imho "NC") do not.
Far from making the whole collection society thing obsolete, the NC licenses
fully support it. As long as CC supports collection societies it's never
going to render them useless or defunct.

The links between the societies and the CC licencee are also slightly
different in Europe and other parts of the world.
If you're not in the US, check the version of the license for your
jurisdiction, because there are some subtle differences in the language, and
also the collection societies operate in different ways. If my memory
serves me well, there are even some countries where their collection society
isn't cool with Creative Commons at all.

I'm not sure why you're comparing mySpace and Jamendo, they do very
different things. mySpace is a social networking space for all, which just
happens to use music as one of it's promotial tools (and commercial/signed
bands have started using it as a stepping stone to a potentially wide
audience...good for them). Jamendo is essentially a next generation label
for musicians, where everyone's unsigned, but all are free to upload an
album and hope for a slowly building audience.
